TeleHealth Solutions to Support Growth of VisuWell Telemedicine Platform in Wide Variety of Medical Specialties

TeleHealth Solutions and VisuWell today announced a partnership which will further accelerate the expansion of VisuWell’s telemedicine platform within the healthcare industry. Atlanta-based TeleHealth Solutions is a vendor-agnostic partner that supports every step involved in planning, implementing and supporting a telehealth system. Headquartered in Nashville and formerly known as WeCounsel, VisuWell modernizes today’s healthcare provider organizations through a platform that enables consumer-friendly access, facilitates engagement and extends virtual care delivery to better meet the needs of patients at reduced costs.

VisuWell is experiencing tremendous demand for its SaaS-based telemedicine platform and has enabled more than half a million sessions for healthcare providers to date. Under the terms of the agreement announced today, TeleHealth Solutions will provide implementation services as needed, including project management, clinical workflow assessment, and technology deployment, to VisuWell’s rapidly growing base of provider customers.

“We are honored to partner with such an outstanding company as VisuWell and look forward to supporting the company’s success,” stated Ned Thurman, CEO of TeleHealth Solutions. “Providers within all specialties are increasingly turning to telemedicine to reduce costs and improve patient care. The growth in demand for VisuWell’s platform truly reflects the strength of its technology and satisfied base of healthcare provider customers across multiple specialties.”

VisuWell recently announced the completion of a new round of funding, which should further fuel sales growth and market expansion of its telemedicine platform. Investors included Longmeadow Capital of Longmeadow, Mass., and Point Judith Capital of Boston, among other participants.

“We are impressed with the expertise of the TeleHealth Solutions team, which has decades of healthcare experience and specializes in implementing telemedicine systems for healthcare systems and providers. Their in-depth knowledge of clinical workflows will be a tremendous benefit to our customers,” said Sam Johnson, CEO of VisuWell.

“We continue to make significant progress toward our goal of bridging the divide between where patients are physically located and their needed interventions and consults. One such example is the ever-important task of integrating the behavioral community into primary care, emergency and urgent care networks,” added Johnson.

VisuWell’s telemedicine platform serves specialties, including emergent telepsychiatry, endocrinology, family practice, geriatrics, mental health, OBGYN teleobstetrics, pediatrics, primary care, teleradiology, sleep telemedicine, telestroke and urgent care telemedicine.

TeleHealth Solutions to Establish Telehealth Program at Riverside Correctional Facilities

TeleHealth Solutions, LLC announced today that it has been retained by Riverside University Health System—Correctional Health Services (RUHS-CHS) to implement a telehealth program for individuals housed in its correctional facilities. RUHS-CHS provides services in five jails or correctional facilities in Riverside County, California, all managed by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Corrections Division, one of the largest jail operations in the state and throughout the country. TeleHealth Solutions is a vendor-agnostic consultative partner that addresses every step involved in planning, procuring and optimizing telehealth programs.

“We are honored to partner with Riverside County. Correctional facilities are increasingly turning to telemedicine to make healthcare more available to inmates because it enhances quality, reduces costs and improves safety,” said Ned Thurman, Chief Executive Officer of TeleHealth Solutions. “Telehealth allows detainees to see specialists and other providers who might not otherwise be available, and corrections officers aren’t forced to transport individuals outside the correctional facility walls.”

TeleHealth Solutions will initially provide an assessment of the existing clinical workflow and technical capabilities at the correctional facilities in Riverside County, including recommendations on strategies to leverage existing resources. Because TeleHealth Solutions is vendor agnostic, it is focused on optimizing current technology while identifying appropriate new technologies, resulting in a successfully integrated system that meets both current and future needs.

“TeleHealth Solutions brings an objective viewpoint supported by years of experience with a wide range of customers,” said Thurman. “This helps to ensure satisfaction among all of an organization’s stakeholders. Our expertise includes an in-depth understanding of both clinical workflow and technology, the two major components of a telemedicine system.”

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Corrections Support and Corrections Operation Divisions manage five adult detention/correctional facilities. The five facilities combined process approximately 55,000 individuals a year. All five facilities are qualified to hold inmates from arrest through booking, trial, sentencing and ultimate disposition.

TeleHealth Solutions serves as a trusted and knowledgeable resource for healthcare systems, hospitals, clinics and physician practices that are seeking the most effective and cost-efficient way to add or improve a telehealth program.

TeleHealth Solutions addresses every step involved in procuring or optimizing telehealth programs, including selection, assessment, review, implementation, integration and support. The company is vendor-agnostic, providing unbiased input that allows customers to leverage existing resources and identify appropriate new technologies, resulting in a successful integrated system that meets current and future needs.

“There are so many variables to consider with telehealth, and they are constantly shifting due to changes in technology and regulatory compliance,” says Ned Thurman, Chief Executive Officer of TeleHealth Solutions. “We bring an objective viewpoint supported by years of experience with a wide range of customers to help ensure satisfaction among all of an organization’s stakeholders.”

TeleHealth Solutions’ expertise delivers in-depth understanding of both workflow and technology, the two major components of a telemedicine system. Specialty practices require workflow and data entry solutions that fit their unique needs, which can create a challenge when one healthcare organization is supporting multiple specialties with telehealth.

“The rapid growth of the telemedicine industry has created confusion in the marketplace and makes it difficult to determine the best solution for a specific organization’s need,” states Ali Yallah, Ph.D., PMP, Chief Information Officer at River Edge Behavioral Health Center. “Not only does TeleHealth Solutions help decipher competing sales offerings so healthcare organizations can choose a cost effective, high-quality solution, but they are there to implement, integrate and support the system.”

Adds Yallah, “Telehealth Solutions is definitely a game changer in the industry. IT leaders and decision makers now have a one stop shop telehealth solution provider.”

TeleHealth Solutions has been growing rapidly since its formation, recently adding Turner Taliaferro Smith as Vice President of Business Development. Smith has an extensive background in health IT and telemedicine. The company is also hiring managers for both implementation and support functions.

Telehealth, telemedicine and mHealth all leverage technology to provide patients with immediate, real-time access to clinicians regardless of location. According to the American Telemedicine Association, there currently are about 2,000 telemedicine networks with 3,500 services sites in the country. Telemedicine is expected to grow at a cumulative annual growth rate of more than 56 percent between 2013 and 2018, says global market research company IHS.

Premier Health has launched its new Telemedicine Stroke Network using REACH Health telemedicine technology solutions. The first two hospitals in the stroke network initiated remote stroke consultations in early April, with other hospital and emergency center locations being added throughout the year.

Telemedicine enables physicians specifically trained in acute stroke care to be electronically transported to the patient’s bedside instantly. Such timely interactions with the family, ER physician and most importantly, the patient, allow for a thorough and rapid patient evaluation.
