Thomas Health System Selects Aegis Health Group to Support Wellness Initiatives by Engaging the Community and Local Employers

Thomas Health System has partnered with Aegis Health Group to improve the health and wellness of the local community. This initiative will focus on building new relationships with local employers, businesses and community organizations through an employer-directed population health strategy. Based in Charleston, West Virginia, Thomas Health System is the 10th largest private employer in the state of West Virginia and has been serving the community for more than 100 years through Thomas Memorial and Saint Francis Hospitals. Aegis has assisted hundreds of hospitals and health systems with employer engagement, population health and physician relationship solutions for nearly three decades.

“Our mission is to develop a healthier community,” said Dan Lauffer, President and CEO of Thomas Health System. “We want to emphasize the value that our primary care network can bring to this population health effort. The wide range of services, tools and technologies available through the Aegis partnership to Thomas Health System will help us manage and advance the community’s diverse healthcare needs.”

“The recent opening of the Saint Francis First Urgent Care & Wellness and our partnership with Aegis demonstrate our commitment to being the community’s trusted, personal choice for wellness and quality care, focused on optimal individual health,” added Lauffer.

This new initiative will enhance relationships with local employers, businesses and community organizations to improve overall health. Thomas Health System will focus on identifying health risks among workers and will offer appropriate hospital-sponsored programs designed to promote better health and align the participants’ needs with available services.

“Aegis’ solutions are designed to strengthen Thomas Health System’s position as the provider of choice in its market,” stated Phillip Suiter, President and CEO of Aegis Health Group. “This program puts Thomas Health System at the center of the solution to improve the health of the community and helps lower overall healthcare costs.”

Aegis will support Thomas Health System with a portfolio of proprietary resources and technology including OneCommunity, a population health website portal. OneCommunity allows patients to record and track health and wellness activities online and provides personalized health reports and relevant hospital services, as well as enables employers to anticipate and mitigate workforce health risks. The partnership also includes an in-market “employer relations specialist” who will work within Thomas Health System to oversee this program on a daily basis.
