Miami Marlins Add Impact Whole Body Cryotherapy Unit to Optimize Athlete Preparation and Recovery

The Miami Marlins have added a state-of-the-art whole body cryotherapy chamber to their training and recovery options for players. The unit from Atlanta-based Impact Cryotherapy is the leading American-designed and American-manufactured cryotherapy system.

Cryotherapy is used worldwide by athletes and others to optimize their bodies, maintain fitness and increase energy. Athletes, ranging from professionals to weekend warriors, claim that whole body cryotherapy gives them an edge over competitors by allowing them to prepare for competition and recover faster from workouts and train harder.

“Baseball players have an exceptionally tough season, often with daily demands on their bodies,” said Richard E. Otto, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Impact Cryotherapy. “The ability to recover quicker and play harder gives a player, and his team, an extraordinary advantage.”

The athlete stands inside the patent-pending, octagonal-shaped chamber during treatment on an adjustable platform, which ensures their head remains outside the chamber. The Impact Cryotherapy chamber is filled with nitrogen vapor, which drops the temperature to a range of (minus) -120°C to -140°C and temporarily lowers the temperature of the skin’s top layer. This treatment lasts a maximum of three minutes. Once outside the chamber, the body immediately reheats.

Extreme cold has been used to treat inflammation for centuries; that’s the idea behind immersing the body in an ice bath. In the 1970s in Japan, cryotherapy treatments were used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, and that spread to Europe, which developed the whole body cryotherapy systems in use today.

Select Cryotherapy Brings First Cryotherapy Treatment Options to Nashville

Whole Body Cryotherapy Used for Health and Wellness, Athletic Recovery

Select Cryotherapy is bringing the hottest trend to Nashville, opening two whole body cryotherapy centers plus a mobile unit on June 8, 2015. Whole body cryotherapy is a three-minute treatment inside a sub-zero degree chamber that leaves users feeling revitalized, helps relieve pain and speeds recovery for athletes.

During the grand opening on June 8-13, which the company has dubbed “Nashville CryoWeek,” Select Cryotherapy will be offering deeply discounted sessions for $19, plus a free session with purchase of a package. Select Cryotherapy is located at 3202 Belmont Boulevard, Nashville 37212 (615.828.9737), and is open from 8 AM to 6 PM. A satellite location is just off I-65 at Highway 96 in Franklin at Schroder Chiropractic, 1113 Murfreesboro Road, #410, 37064.

Select Cryotherapy also has a mobile unit designed for use by groups and at special events. The mobile unit will be at Green Hills Family YMCA June 8-9, providing treatments from 8 AM to 6 PM. The mobile cryotherapy chamber will also be at the 7th Annual Nashville Sports Council Golf Tournament on June 25.

“We find that once people have tried whole body cryotherapy, they recognize the health and wellness benefits and enjoy feeling refreshed and invigorated,” explains John Hartong, CEO of Select Cryotherapy. “A lot of people end up getting cryotherapy treatments on a weekly or biweekly basis because it’s so fast, easy and effective.”

Cold therapy has been used for thousands of years throughout the world and is a well-accepted method for treating inflammation and injury. It is a safe, proven method to improve whole body health and wellness.

Cryotherapy allows athletes to train harder and recover faster, but is much more comfortable than immersing the body in ice water. Amateur athletes and weekend warriors, as well as pros, have adopted cryotherapy to reduce pain and inflammation caused by strenuous exercise.

Therapists and practitioners can recommend whole body cryotherapy as an adjunct to other types of treatments for a variety of symptoms and conditions, ranging from chronic pain to depression. With the mobile unit, therapists can arrange for onsite treatment days.

The whole body cryotherapy experience begins with stripping down to underwear, jogging or compression shorts. Women may also wear a bra, sports bra or bikini top. The user steps into the state-of-the-art Select Cryotherapy chamber, which fills with nitrogen vapor. The head remains outside the chamber, which drops in temperature to a range of minus 140 to 170 degrees Celsius.

“During those three minutes in the chamber, the skin sends signals to the brain which stimulates physical reactions and activates naturally occurring healing resources,” said Bert Simmons, COO of Select Cryotherapy. “Once you step out, the body immediately reheats, but the effects remain. The one thing we hear from virtually everyone who has tried the treatment is how energized they feel. An added benefit for most users is that the treatment increases metabolism and burns calories.”

The Select Cryotherapy units were made in the U.S.A. in an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified facility, and represent the next generation of cryotherapy, which has traditionally been manufactured and used in Europe. The Select Cryotherapy system combines leading-edge technology with innovative design to deliver unmatched safety, comfort and reliability.

About Select Cryotherapy
Select Cryotherapy offers state-of-the-art whole body cryotherapy treatments through its two locations and mobile unit. The mobile unit is available for events as well as ongoing partner programs. The company is headquartered in Nashville with a satellite location in Franklin. MedQuest Finds Data-Driven Radiology Sales and Marketing Contributes to the Bottom Line

MedQuest Radiology Management Services has found that maintaining a focus on data can increase radiology sales and marketing success, resulting in a significant boost to revenues and the bottom line. This is a more sustainable solution than the more common reaction of cutting overhead when radiology departments and centers start feeling the pinch from decreasing reimbursement and rising costs.

MedQuest Radiology Management Services is one of the country’s leading radiology management companies, assisting hospitals, imaging centers and physician practices in optimizing their imaging resources. In addition to sales and marketing, the company’s management and support services include comprehensive radiology assessments; operational enhancements such as scheduling and intake improvements; revenue cycle and denial management; quality, safety and patient experience; and strategic development and network management.

“Too often providers of radiology services fail to devote adequate resources to radiology sales and marketing, leaving them lacking in critical market knowledge and vulnerable to competition,” said Bruce Elder, Chief Development and Strategy Officer of MedQuest. “At both our owned centers and the healthcare systems and centers we support, MedQuest has implemented highly effective sales and marketing programs that drive increased scan volumes and greater responsiveness to customers.”

MedQuest employs a data-driven approach to sales and marketing that includes training and overseeing one or more dedicated onsite sales and marketing specialists that actively build relationships with physicians to increase referral volume and ensure high satisfaction levels. The foundation of these relationships are regular communication, responsive “service recovery” to meet physicians’ needs and a deep understanding of radiology.

“It’s been said many times that you can’t manage what you don’t measure ,” said Elder. “Applying metrics to the sales and marketing function is a transformative process that converts those activities into a data-driven approach with measurable contributions to the bottom line. Clients appreciate the fact that we can accurately forecast volume by modality and measure the ROI on sales and marketing activities.”

Often radiology departments and centers rely on shared marketing or “outreach” resources that represent a wide range of services. MedQuest has found that having dedicated radiology sales and marketing specialists with the right specialized training, CRM system and oversight is far more effective.

About MedQuest Radiology Management Services
MedQuest provides comprehensive radiology management services to hospitals, imaging centers and physician practices that increase revenue, optimize operations and enhance quality, safety and the patient experience. MedQuest’s decades of management and operational experience, together with industry-leading proprietary systems and processes, create an unrivaled value proposition for customers. Strategic Assessments from MedQuest Radiology Management Services Identify Actionable Radiology Improvements for Healthcare Organizations

Hospitals and healthcare systems are facing unprecedented threats to their bottom lines, challenging them to curtail costs, increase revenue and improve the delivery of efficient quality patient care. In this tumultuous environment, MedQuest Radiology Management Services, one of the country’s leading radiology management companies, is seeing greater demand for its assessment services that help healthcare organizations identify areas for improvement within their radiology operations.

MedQuest’s assessments range from comprehensive evaluations of all aspects of radiology operations to in-depth-examinations of a single function, such as sales and marketing, operations, scheduling, billing and denials, IT/system integration, and facility and equipment review. MedQuest is also often called upon to provide a market assessment focusing on referral patterns, referring physician feedback, radiology network strategies and future expansion opportunities.

“Drawing upon decades of our own hands-on imaging operations experience, MedQuest is uniquely qualified to identify and implement strategies proven to significantly increase revenue, optimize operations and enhance quality, safety and the patient experience,” said Todd W. Latz, MedQuest Chief Executive Officer. “MedQuest is more than just a consultant; we deliver a strategic blueprint with actionable recommendations and can provide extensive implementation support and guidance.”

  • Healthcare system transformation – A multi-state integrated healthcare system was seeking to identify potential efficiencies, cost savings and revenue generating activities for radiology, while enhancing operations. MedQuest narrowed the focus to staffing and scheduling, which offered the greatest ROI within a tight timeline. Under MedQuest’s guidance, the healthcare system exceeded their goal of a $4 million impact on operating cash flow.
  • Medical center expansion – MedQuest was asked to help ensure the success of a medical center’s new location and increased scan volume 27% while maximizing the effectiveness of the system’s imaging network. MedQuest identified areas of opportunity to improve operational processes and workflow in scheduling, patient registration and modality patient flow, evaluated the management and staffing model and identified metrics for operational efficiency and management accountability.

The MedQuest assessment process begins with a data review that allows the team to identify potential opportunities and specific areas of focus prior to the onsite visit. While the team is onsite, they conduct interviews with staff, radiologists, and affiliated and independent referring physicians, and observe procedures and workflow. Following the visit, the team analyzes the information and develops specific and actionable recommendations based on industry and proprietary best practices. And finally, MedQuest presents its findings and recommendations to the healthcare organization, including a comprehensive review of the market, current operations and both near term and longer term improvement opportunities.

Georgia Tech is First to Offer State-of-the-Art Impact Cryotherapy to Student Athletes

Twenty minutes in a tub of ice water or three minutes in a whole body cryotherapy chamber – that’s now a choice for student athletes at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), thanks to the recent addition of a cryotherapy chamber from Atlanta-based Impact Cryotherapy.

Georgia Tech has become the first NCAA Division I athletic program to adopt Impact Cryotherapy’s state-of-the-art chamber. Cryotherapy is used worldwide by athletes and others to maintain fitness and increase energy. Athletes, ranging from professionals to weekend warriors, claim that whole body cryotherapy gives them an edge over competitors by allowing them to recover faster from workouts and train harder.

“We’re looking at it as a valuable recovery tool,” said Tech’s Director of Sports Medicine, Jay Shoop. “It reduces the temperature in the extremity tissues and drives blood to your core, and once you come out the blood starts coming back, creating something of a flushing process. It gets rid of lactic acid, but mostly post-game, post-workout soreness.” Shoop added that 30 to 40 student athletes a day are currently using the chamber.

“We try to stay on the cutting edge of our industry,” Shoop said. “If there is something innovative out there that is going to help our athletes get better quicker, recover quicker, or have any kind of advantage, Georgia Tech is going to do that.”

“We couldn’t be more pleased that our hometown team at Georgia Tech is the first to adopt the Impact Cryotherapy system,” said Richard E. Otto, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Impact Cryotherapy.

“Extreme cold has been used to treat inflammation for centuries; that’s the idea behind immersing the body in an ice bath,” said Otto. “In the 1970s in Japan, cryotherapy treatments were used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, and that spread to Europe, which developed the whole body cryotherapy systems in use today. Impact Cryotherapy is the only American-designed and American-manufactured system.”

The user stands inside the patent-pending, octagonal-shaped chamber during treatment on an adjustable platform, which ensures their head remains outside the chamber. The Impact Cryotherapy chamber is filled with nitrogen vapor, which drops the temperature to a range of (minus) -140°C to -170°C and temporarily lowers the temperature of the skin’s top layer. This treatment lasts a maximum of three minutes. Once out of the chamber, the body immediately reheats.
